We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our father on March 19, 2010; his big heart finally gave out. Russ is survived and greatly missed by his loving companion Dorothy, brothers George & Bill and children Susan (Tom Brock), David (Rena) and Renee (Rob Little). Russ 'Gido' was very proud of his 11 grandchildren. A life long entrepreneur and avid golfer, in lieu of service, friends may honour Russ through a fun round of golf at Surrey Golf Club, where he was an active member.
On Saturday, April 3 at 10:30 am friends and family played a round of golf together. Great fun was had by all, even the weather cooperated a little. Reception followed in White Rock where many friends gathered and told stories about Russ, while enjoying a few drinks and the hearty snacks prepared with love by his daughters and Dorothy & daughter. Young grandchildren and cousins played together while the older ones kept watch. The men mingled and told golf tales. Many smiles and laughs were shared, and new friendships were formed and old ones rekindled. A fitting tribute to Russ.
A memorial to Russ will be placed at Surrey G.C. and donations to this memorial may be made in lieu of flowers. Please email golf4russ@gmail.com or make your donation directly to Surrey Golf Club.
My tiger
It has been over a week since I said good-bye to you and I still listen for your key in the front lock and your "hi honey I'm home" . Your "what's for dinner" and then your "that was excellent" after we ate. I miss your quick wit, your smile, your tenerness but most of all our cozy evenings even if you did fall asleep in the lazy-boy. Through you I learned a lot and made some wonderful new friends. Theses memories will last forever. Love you and miss you from your "Monkey" Dorothy
My friend Russ
My golfing buddy & friend will be missed by me.His positive attitude, friendliness , poor jokes, and golf lessons (which never happened).
Socially,my wife Anne & I enjoyed the occasional bbq. or meal with Russ and "the gang". We always let Russ just snooze in the chair while the rest of us just visited! This was after he drank most of the wine.
REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND. Jack & Anne Noble.
May you never have to wait for a Tee Off Time.
May heaven be just as you imagined.
Through your children and your grandchildren,
you will live on forever.
May you have everlasting peace
Linda
You remain "The Crazy Canadian" to us both; and your light will shine forever in our memories of your love of life, his huge laugh, and the joys of friendship we had with you through the years. Our lives are better for having been touched by you through the years. Eternal golf, good friend, you are greatly missed.

YOUR SMILE WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR MEMORIES OF YOU!
We have had the pleasure of knowing Russ for over 30 years.
Russ often came to our shop, it didn't matter what that day brought, Russ always had a smile and a joke for everyone.
Over the years we heard numerious golf stories, good and bad. Emails that made us laugh at the start of our day.
A few years back Georg bought me a putter for my birthday. After I mentioned it to Russ his comment to me was: (Would you send Georg out to buy you a bra?) This was his opinion of someone else choosing golf equipment for you!
Russ, we will miss you very much. However, we know that you are there on the biggest green there ever was, smiling as usual, telling jokes, especially the ones about 'TIGER" and even the big guy is getting a good laugh. KEEP SMILING...........Georg and Janet - Candu Manufacturing Inc.
No time for sorrow
Always wise cracking and with the best memory for the worst jokes, you were not really a father in the traditional sense, but you sure were the best buddy a kid could ask for. As we got older and our lives got busier, we spent less time together, but the quality of that time grew 10 fold. No matter how much time had passed, when we got together it was just as if we had never been apart. We never skipped a beat. I will miss your trademark overused cliches, and I may even miss those lame emails! There are so many nuances that define you. Even the way you ring the doorbell... I know it is you without looking. These quirks will become family heirlooms and survive for generations! We'll have a fun day in your honour and give you a good roasting, filled with plenty of laughs, friends, family; it'll be just super! Just super-dooper. (And we'll bring out the good booze!) Don't be late.... oops, I forgot who I was talking to. Love ya Paw! Chew
